Tai Po Old Police Station Visit |
|
There were 14 alumni to visit the Old Tai Po Police Station in which it was identified as a Grade 1 historic building, built in 1899. In 2010, Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG) was selected by the Development Bureau to transform the heritage site into a "Green Hub for Sustainable Living” under Batch II of the "Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme" (Revitalisation Scheme).
The aim of the Green Hub project is to transform the Old Tai Po Police Station into an influential landmark for Hong Kong and the region to promote sustainable living and integrated conservation. After the visit, we all went to lunch together in Tai Po Market.

Dragon's Back Hiking 2017-04-09 |
|
We had a hiking event on April 9th, the route is Dragon’s Back in HK Island, and it is one of the famous hiking routes in Hong Kong. We gathered at Sau Kei Wan and then took a bus to starting point. The weather was good with sunshine, but foggy; it was difficult to see sea view. It took 2.5 hours to finish the hiking, and the difficulty rating is easy. After finishing the journey, we went to Shek O to have a nice lunch.

Pok Oi Hospital Fundraising Cycling |
|
This was third time for a team of 6 alumni participated to support the event of “Pok Oi Cycle for Millions” charity on 5 March 2017, which was a grand annual fundraising event held by Pok Oi Hospital. IGDSAA enthusiastically contributes this fundraising event yearly. This year, there were also about 6,500 participants, same as last year. The cycling path was along the Stonecutters Island Bridge then through the South Bay Tunnel, and returned. During the ride, with superb sunray, the stunning harbour scenery and the view of container terminals were alongside the bridge which captured a lot of photos. It was a magnificent experience of warm-hearted exercise.

AGM cum Annual Dinner 2016-12-10 |
|
After a few years of glamorous annual dinner, this year we want to create a cozy environment for networking among participants, therefore we choose United Services Recreation Club as the venue. About 100 alumni, student & guest attended the annual dinner. Besides enjoying western buffet food and guitar, guzhang and singing performance by students; participants could chit chat a bit in the open area without disturbing others.
As Prof. Amanda Dowd has assumed the post of Academic Director of Graduate School of The University of Warwick, she may not come to Hong Kong as so often in the past, so we presented a souvenir to Prof. Dowd to thank for her all support to IGDS program throughout all these years.
We are also grateful to announce that with all kinds of support from alumni, together with our passion, enthusiasm and devotion, we were awarded by the Federation of Hong Kong Polytechnic University Alumni Association the following:
- Most Active Alumni Association 2015-16
- Most Successful Membership Recruitment 2015-16
It was a blissful evening to remember for all participants.
