Chating with your old classmates, meeting new friends, tasting the wine and enjoying the food, every participants were drowned in the lively atmosphere of the Annual Dinner held on 8 December 2007. All 100 participants at least got a table prize plus PolyU recylce bag with souveniors inside it. If you were lucky enough, you would have won one of the 30 lucky draw prizes like Manita who got the 1st prize of a 22" LCD TV. The performance of alumni kids with instruments and singing were so amazing and cute. The games arouse lots of fun and laughter from participants. All in all, it was a great function for our alumni.

Feeling the fresh breeze, a little walk from Sai Kung Pier brought us to the BBQ site on beach side on 3 November 2007. 22 alumni and friends enjoyed the fabulous unlimited food of pork, ribs, octopus, fish balls, green pepper, corns, sweet potatos and many more. Some volunteer to prepare food at the grill while others sat at the table to chat, exchange views and update work status with each other.

Although the weather was not good with some showers, 45 alumni and companions showed up at Siu Sai Wan Sports Ground on 23 September 2007 to join PolyU community in forming the largest human national and HKSAR flags. We have contributed to the success in breaking the world record with 21,726 participants. The grass pitch was marked with lines and positions. Each participant entering the pitch has to collect a coloured board and packed closely following the lines. Upon hearing one whistle blow, each one held up coloured board with side "A" facing upward to form the image of the national flag. We have to hold the board until two whistles were blowed. The procedure is repeated by flipping and holding the board to side "B" to form the HKSAR flag. The event is interesting and meaningful.

Despite a public holiday in Hong Kong, 23 alumni joined the visit to Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd. (TTI) in Dongguan on 2nd July 2007. Techtronic Industries (TTI) is an renowned OEM/ODM manufacturer of power tools and a listed company in Hongkong Stock Exchange since 1990. From 1999 onwards, TTI started acquiring brands and business in North America and Europe for power tools, outdoor power equipment and floor care products. It now has the brands Ryobi, AEG, Milwaukee, Homelite, VAX, Royal, Dirt Devil, Hoover. We visited the testing centre where all kinds of safety test, including drop test (with packaging) were performed. TTI even have its own design shop to design the suitable packaging (white cardboard box) for each product. The machine shop with sophisticated tooling to produce various shape of gear box spring is fascinating. The assembly line with all young and energitic workers is highly efficient. After about 2.5hr dirve and lunch, 30 participants arrived Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co. in Huadu District of Guangzhou. The plant covers an area of 1,075,000 sq.m. including Press shop, Body shop, Coating shop, Resin shop, Final Assembly line, engine shop, test track and a R&D centre. The production capacity is 270,000 cars a year. We have a tour through the various workshops and were astonished by the vast number of different components that needed to be assembled to form a vehicle.

The IGDS Alumni has organized a team of 78 persons consisting of alumni and their families & friends to participate in the Hong Kong - Shenzhen Western Corridor Walk for Million on 15 April 2007. We have raised total HK$43,110 for The Community Chest to support the "Children & Youth Services" to help the younger generation develop a positive value and cultivate their sense of social belongings. Our team was allocated starting time at 12:00 noon. Although the weather is a bit hazzy, all participants completeled the journey cheerfully with some sweating. Some alumni and friends went for a late lunch / early dinner at Lau Fau Shan after the Walk.

On 17 March 2007,total 29 alumni gathered at the Disclipined Services Sports & Recreation Club in So Kong Po for a small cosy spring dinner. We have invited Eddie Hui, graduate of 1998, to share with us his experience on his route from an IT service engineer to a sales & management trainer. Here are some key words: F(focus)L(leverage)I(innovate)C(communicate)K(keep on trying). All participants enjoyed the dinner and benefited with some tricks and flicks!
