To thank the working committee and student helpers for making a successful annual dinner 2013, a joyful BBQ party was held on 7 March 2014 at the clubhouse of Liberte, Lai Chi Kok. Around 30 alumni and students attended, as well as Prof. TC Lee our Hon. Advisor cum former Director of Studies. All participants enjoyed much the wonderful varieties of food and beverages. On such a cozy occasion, the students shared freely with the seniors about their studies, living, plans… The President wanted to thank for some students who had helped on food preparation in the afternoon. Some more than 10 students played bowling happily at the clubhouse in the afternoon too. All in all, it was a delightful evening by seeing the laughter on everyone’s face.

An honour to invite our Hon. Advisors Prof. WS Lau, Prof. TC Lee, Prof. HC Man, and Hon. President Dr. SW Lui to attend the spring dinner on 18 February 2014. All ExCo members, some sub-committee members and two class representatives were in presence. The seniors shared with all their opinions and ideas of planning for the Program and Alumni Association, which were much benefited to the roadmap of future development.

The first seminar of Professional Development on the topic of “Our techniques and experience on applying to become a Chartered Engineer” was successfully held on 11 January 2014 with more than 40 participants. The chief organizer cum ExCo member 2014 T.M. Lam took the lead of the event with the support of Sub-Committee member Chan Cho-yee. Altogether 7 guest speakers, who had been granted chartership via IET or SOE, from various engineering disciplines, were invited for sharing their information and experience in the aspects of methodology of sophisticated application and professional review interview. The enthusiastic interaction in the Q&A session was impressive and fruitful.

An early kickoff event organized by the ExCo member 2014, Frances Lui, on 29 December 2013 – Hiking! The route was from Nam Chung, Fanling (南涌) to Tai Mei Tuk, Tai Po (大尾篤). During the trail, All 10 participants enjoyed much the super nice weather, fantastic scenes, earthy breath, and had many good experience sharing time. The route was good for beginners too and the duration was around 4.5 hours. Afterwards, we had a pleasant tea time in Tai Mei Tuk’s restaurant. We do hope to see you next time! More exercise, more healthy, and more fun!

What a fabulous and spectacular evening in 2013! Our Annual Dinner was held again at Police Officers’ Club with nearly 180 participants attended. As always, this most expected event provided a good platform and opportunity for alumni, students, teachers, staff, as well as distinguished guests to get together. It was our greatest honour and gratitude to have invited Professor Judy Tsui (Vice President of HKPU) and Ir Dr Hon Lo Wai-kwok (Member of the Legislative Council) to conduct the opening and closing speeches respectively. And both greeted the new ExCo team in the presidency of Elinor Cheuk. Same as last year, the evening was filled with entertainment via dancing, singing, guitar and violin performances by our students. The atmosphere was escalated to the highest with the marvelous saxophone performance by Dr WK Lo near the end. Thanks to the participation of everyone, the fantastic and vibrant banquet had brought all of us joy, laughter and everlasting memories.

On 8th November 2013, about 50 participants of IGDS students attended the PMA sharing. Gavin Luk delivered the PMA sharing in the vivid way. Very positive feedbacks from attended students.

About 100 students joined the Buddy Program orientation on 2nd November 2013. 16 big buddies joined to meet their buddies. And buddies gave a big show including singing, dancing, drama and games. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you all for your centripetal force towards the Buddy Program.

We went for urban hiking twice this year, on 28 April and 27 October respectively. Both choosen routes were easily accessible from urban area on Hong Kong island. Good for beginners and refreshing are a week's hard work.
